Academics
Every Falcon Supported. Every Step of the Way.
At American World School, we believe that academic achievement and personal wellbeing are not separate goals — they are deeply, inseparably connected. A student who feels unseen, unsupported, or overwhelmed cannot learn at their best. And a student who is thriving personally but not challenged academically is not reaching their potential either.
That is why student support at AWS is not a department you visit when something goes wrong. It is a culture — woven into every classroom, every advisor relationship, every check-in, and every conversation. From the day a Falcon joins us to the day they graduate, they are known, they are supported, and they are never navigating their journey alone.
Whether your child is in Kindergarten in Chennai, Grade 10 online from Beirut, or anywhere in between — the same commitment to their wellbeing and success applies, without exception.
We Meet Every Student Where They Are.
No two students arrive at AWS with the same strengths, the same challenges, or the same story. Some need more stretch. Some need more time. Some need someone to talk to. Some need all three at different moments in their school life.
AWS support is personalised by design. Every student works with a dedicated Success Coach who knows them as an individual — not as a grade, not as a test score, not as a case file. We build support plans around the student in front of us, not around a one-size-fits-all model that rarely fits anyone at all.
This is what it means to be Asia’s first entrepreneurial school: we treat every student as a unique individual with a unique future worth investing in — and we build our support structures to reflect exactly that.
Building Skills, Not Just Fixing Gaps.
Academic support at AWS is not a remedial service. It is a proactive, ongoing part of every student’s learning journey — available to every Falcon, at every grade level, as a natural part of belonging to this school.
Every AWS student is assigned a dedicated Success Coach from day one. Your Success Coach is your anchor — the consistent adult in your school life who knows your academic history, understands your learning style, and is genuinely invested in your growth. Success Coaches check in regularly, help students set and revisit their personal learning goals, and are the first point of contact when a student needs support of any kind.
Our curriculum is built so that academic support is embedded — not bolted on. Because every course is designed around skills mastery rather than content memorisation, students progress at a pace that is genuinely right for them. No student moves on until they and their Success Coach agree they are ready. No student is left behind because the class moved faster than they could.
For students who need additional time with a concept or skill, AWS offers small group and one-to-one sessions with subject teachers. These are focused, purposeful, and designed to build confidence alongside capability — because understanding how to learn something is as important as learning it.
AWS welcomes students with a wide range of learning profiles. Our learning support team works closely with students, families, and classroom teachers to develop individualised support plans for students who learn differently — ensuring that every Falcon has equitable access to the full AWS curriculum and experience.
Our online students receive the same depth of academic support as those on campus. Live sessions with teachers, regular Success Coach check-ins, self-paced resources, and structured feedback ensure that distance is never a barrier to getting the help a student needs.
Because How a Child Feels Determines How a Child Learns.
Wellbeing is not a programme at AWS. It is a priority — embedded into the daily life of every student, online and in-person, from Kindergarten through to Grade 12.
AWS school counsellors are qualified professionals who support students across the full spectrum of emotional, social, and personal wellbeing. Whether a student is navigating friendship challenges, managing anxiety, adjusting to a new environment, processing a difficult experience, or simply needing someone to talk to — our counsellors are here, available, and approachable.
Counselling at AWS is confidential, compassionate, and free from judgement. We want every student to know that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. It is one of the most courageous things a person can do.
At AWS, social-emotional learning is woven into the curriculum and the culture. From the way we structure group work to the way we talk about failure and resilience in the classroom, we are consistently and intentionally building the self-awareness, empathy, and emotional intelligence that students need to thrive — in school, in relationships, and in life.
Wellbeing support is equally available to our online students. Our counselors hold virtual sessions, online students are connected to their class communities through regular live interactions, and our Success Coach system ensures that no online Falcon feels disconnected or overlooked. We actively monitor the wellbeing of our online community and reach out proactively — not just when a concern has already arisen.
Your Future Begins on Day One.
At most schools, university counselling begins in the final year — when there is barely enough time to make genuinely informed choices. At AWS, it begins the moment a student joins us.
At the earliest stages, support is about building the foundations — of literacy, numeracy, confidence, and love of learning. Our educators are attuned to the individual developmental needs of every child, and our counselors are available to support the social and emotional milestones that are every bit as important as academic ones at this age.
One of the most significant periods of personal change in a young person’s life. AWS support at this stage is proactive and holistic — addressing academic challenges, identity development, peer relationships, and the growing complexity of a student’s inner world.
Academic rigour, university preparation, personal development, and the pressures of growing up all intensify in High School. AWS High School support wraps around students comprehensively — combining academic advising, university counselling, mental health and wellbeing support, and the mentorship of our Innovation and Impact Programme to ensure every student crosses the graduation stage feeling ready, capable, and genuinely excited for what comes next.
At American World School, the relationship between school and home is one of the most important partnerships we maintain. We know that when families are genuinely informed, genuinely involved, and genuinely connected to their child’s school life, students thrive in ways that no teacher or programme can achieve alone.
That is why we do not wait for our parents to come to us. We come to you — consistently, proactively, and with intention. Every single week.
Every Friday, your child’s Success Coach picks up the phone and calls your family. Not to report a problem. Not to raise a concern. To tell you something your child did well that week.
This is our Friday Positive Phone Call — a commitment we make to every single family in the AWS community, every single week, without exception. It might be a moment of genuine academic breakthrough. A question that impressed a teacher. A kindness shown to a classmate. A challenge faced with real courage. Whatever it is, we find it — because every student does something worth celebrating every week, and every family deserves to hear about it.
Over time, this simple, human practice does something powerful. It builds trust between school and home. It means that when a family hears from AWS, they associate it with good news — and that changes the entire dynamic of the relationship. Parents become true partners, not just recipients of reports. Students know their efforts are seen, valued, and shared. And the connection between home and school becomes a genuine source of strength for every Falcon.
In addition to Friday calls, every AWS family receives a detailed Weekly Student Report for their child — every single week, without exception.
This is not a termly grade sheet or a vague end-of-semester summary. It is a real-time, comprehensive window into your child’s week at school — precise, personalised, and genuinely useful from the moment you open it.
Every weekly report includes: Assignment and Project Tracking, Attendance and Tardiness, Personalised Feedback from Success Coaches, and Feedback from Academic Managers.
Together, Friday Positive Phone Calls and Weekly Student Reports give AWS families something most schools simply do not offer: exact, timely, and human information about their child — every single week.
You will always know how your child is doing. You will always know what they are working on. You will always know what they accomplished this week that made someone at school take notice.
And your child will always know that their school and their family are, genuinely and actively, on the same team.
At AWS, transparency is not a policy. It is a promise we keep every Friday.

Support at AWS should feel easy to reach — not like something you have to search for.
Talk to your Success Coach. They are your first point of contact for anything — academic or personal. If they are not the right person to help, they will connect you with someone who is.
Contact your child’s Success Coach directly, or reach out to our Student Support team at support@aws.edu. We welcome every conversation and will always respond promptly.
All support is fully accessible virtually. Your Success Coach and counsellor are available via scheduled video call, email, and our online school platform. Distance changes nothing about your right to support.
If you are concerned about a student’s immediate safety or wellbeing, please contact us directly and without delay. We take every concern seriously and respond swiftly.
We know that choosing a school means trusting it with the most important person in your life. That trust is not something we take lightly. Our commitment is simple: we will know your child, we will care for your child, and we will do everything in our power to help them grow — academically, personally, and in every other way that matters.
