Explore everything. Master what matters. Become more than one thing.
Leonardo da Vinci was a painter, a scientist, an engineer, an anatomist, a musician, and an inventor — simultaneously. Steve Jobs was a designer, a marketer, a technologist, and a storyteller. Malala Yousafzai is an activist, an author, an educator, and a global leader. The people who have most profoundly shaped the world were not specialists. They were polymaths.
At American World School Chennai, we believe the next generation of world-changers will be polymaths too. And we have built an education designed to produce them — a deliberate, joyful invitation to every Falcon to explore their interests, discover their talents, and pursue the passions destined to make the world a better place.
Explore. Discover. Pursue. The structure that turns curiosity into capability into contribution.
From the first days at school, every AWS student works with their Success Coach to identify the areas of knowledge, creativity, and experience that genuinely excite them. Through 27 learning methodologies, students encounter knowledge in many forms — projects, adventure, service, research, making, performance, and direct engagement with real-world problems.
Knowing what you love is the first step. Knowing what you are genuinely gifted at is the deeper, more transformative discovery. Through the Bodhi Psychometric Assessment, Mastery-Based Learning, Mixed-Age Communities, and the Innovation and Impact Programme, AWS gives every student the tools to truly know themselves.
Discovery without action is just self-awareness. At AWS, student passions are not managed — they are harnessed. Friday Entrepreneurship Day, Passion Projects, Create Your Own Path, and the Content Creation Hub turn passion into sustained, institutionally backed pursuit.
Four methods. One purpose — help every student understand what they are genuinely capable of.
A scientifically validated tool that maps a student's cognitive strengths, personality profile, learning style, motivational drivers, and career pathway alignment — giving students and Success Coaches an evidence-based foundation for exploring where natural talents lie.
Students move through material at their own pace, with time and space to develop real depth rather than surface familiarity. A student labelled average in a timed-test environment often reveals extraordinary capability when given the opportunity to work with genuine focus.
Younger students encounter the talents and achievements of older peers. Older students discover their own capabilities through mentoring and leading. In an AWS classroom, talent is never hidden for long.
For High School students — one of the most powerful talent-discovery experiences available in any school in Asia. When a student spends a programme period pursuing a UN SDG or startup idea, the talents that emerge often surprise both student and family.
The Polymathic Experience is not a class. It is the structure of the entire school week — intentionally designed to develop multi-dimensional, deeply connected human beings.
The intellectual foundation. Core subjects pursued with rigour, mastery, and depth — building the knowledge base from which polymathic thinking emerges.
Vayusathra aerospace engineers bring science, aeronautics, drones, satellites, and robotics into direct contact with student creativity in the Maker Space.
Students develop voice, presence, body language, and professional etiquette to share what they know with the world. A polymath who cannot communicate remains unrealised.
Where every other dimension converges in the service of building something real — guided by Peter Jones Foundation mentors, validated by Apple, connected via KIDx Asia.
Long-term, self-directed, advisor-supported investigations into topics that matter personally — treated with the same seriousness as any academic achievement.
At graduation, every AWS Falcon carries a specific profile — one the world's best universities and most pressing problems are both looking for.
Not a dilettante who knows a little about everything, and not a specialist who knows everything about one thing. A polymath — someone with real capability across multiple domains and the wisdom to connect them productively.
Creativity, curiosity, persistence, empathy, opportunity-seeking, problem-solving, optimism, and growth mindset — not personality traits, but learnable capabilities developed systematically across every subject.
AWS graduates know themselves — with a depth and confidence that comes from years of structured self-exploration, psychometric assessment, advisor support, and the lived experience of pursuing what they care about.
Deep across multiple domains, entrepreneurially minded, globally connected, self-knowing, and capable of cross-disciplinary innovation — exactly what top universities are looking for, and exactly what the world’s most pressing problems need.
Every Falcon's Polymathic Experience is different — shaped by their own interests, talents, and vision for the kind of impact they want to have. What is the same is the school's commitment to supporting that journey with the best educators, the richest learning environment, and the deepest belief in what every young person can become.
